10:40 am - long time no see
I figured I was way overdue for an update, so here we go. Let's see if I can fit everything from the past few months into one giant update.

My summer was amazing, best one of my life thus far. At the same time, it was also the worst time of my life. Luckily, I have amazing friends and amazing family that have helped me continue to get through everything as best as I possibly can.

Towards the end of August, when everyone started going back to college, it really got me thinking about how I want to continue my education. I started to feel like going away to college is something I really need to do. If I were to not go away, I think I would really regret having never experienced that part of life. So off I went into the research of where I would want to go away to school. At first I thought I would be best suited at a smaller school such as Alma or Albion. But with that type of school, I would also be paying a higher tuition - not a fan of that. It also came to my mind that going to a college where I already know people there, it would make the transition a hell of a lot easier for me. Not only that, but I would be a lot more comfortable knowing that if I ever needed anything, people would be there for me.

With that, Central Michigan became the school I thought fit me best. Then, when I told the people I know who attend Central, the encouragement for me to go there kicked in. Friends and family, especially Jenn, have encouraged me more than I ever would have thought to go to Central (with the exception of Chris who continues to say "I'm sorry" any time Central Michigan is mentioned).

After making that decision, I went through and collected my official Harrison and OCC transcripts to have them sent to central. I filled out the application, and within a couple weeks I had gotten my acceptance letter. Now plans are being made for me to get an apartment or townhouse with Jenn and her current roommate. I'm very much looking forward to the fall semester of '06 and all of its possibilities. It should be an amazing time and I'm really glad I decided to on going away to college.

When I realized that this was all going to happen, I decided to go through and switch my class schedule at OCC to something that would benefit me more. So I dropped my Thursday night communications class and my economics class in favor of college algebra. My degree program at Central (business) requires Calculus to be taken, so I figured it would be wise to catch up on my math and get as much of it as possible out of the way at OCC.

Right now my courses include Accounting II, Statistics, and College Algebra. This is easily the hardest and most demanding semester that I've ever had to go through. The work load is tremendous. I find myself concentrating specifically on one subject at a time since I'll have an exam or quiz in that subject coming up. This leads me to not pay attention to work from other classes and I begin to fall behind. So far, so good, however, in terms of exam scores. I earned a 99/100 on my first Stats exam, which I am very pleased with. I had an Algebra exam on Tuesday, but I'm not sure yet how I did. Probably not too hot, but I'm sure it will be passing and thats what counts for me at this point. I had high expectations going into the semester. I wanted to get a high GPA so I could apply for the $1000 transfer scholarship at central - which requires a 3.3 GPA. Prior to this semester, I believe I had a 3.2. So we'll see what I can do during this semester and next to get myself a scholarship.

How about hockey talk? I'm surprised I overlooked that up until now. The Cracker Jacks did not dominate the league like we thought we would. We lost our first two games of the six game season. But after that, we were unstoppable. We won the next 4 regular season games, then our two playoff games - including a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory in the championship game. We were down 0-1 going into the third period, which was surprising since we usually put up good numbers against that team. But I dangled and roofed one backhand for the game tying goal, and Fagan ended it in overtime to give us a championship. The other team I played on had an amazing season, but we lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs. I had a couple great and very productive seasons though. I ended up finishing with a total of 52 points (30g, 22a - 3.25ppg)

There had been lots of talk about playing in the Fall '05 season, but now that registration deadlines have passed it doesnt look like it will happen. I'm actually kinda glad. I'm sure in a few weeks I'll really start to miss it. Right now, however, I'm enjoying the time off - too bad I have to spend it doing homework instead of being lazy. We'll probably get back into the swing of things in Winter '06 and continue through next summer. Thats how it always seems to go, we usually take a break in the fall for some reason. A lot of the time it seems like its because we cant get ahold of everyone to set it up. But really, I think some people just need a break from it. It gives them more motivation and inspiration come the next season.

I think, recently, with moms passing, that I've gone into one of those whole "eat for comfort" modes. I think I'm starting to put on a little weight. I really need to get that under control and start eating right again and working out on a consistant basis. Maybe I should pull out my eating/exercise plan that I set up from last spring when I tried cutting and follow that again. Apparently I had pretty good results with that.

There's been a whole lot of other shit going on over the past few months. Not a lot stands out as something that is worth mentioning. Summer featured a lot of time spent with Sarah, mostly just hanging out at someones house watching tv or a movie. It's been quite an adjustment going from seeing her every day to only seeing her on the weekends. Each week it seems to get easier though.

Basically over the past few weeks and in the weeks coming up, even though school has started again, we've been knocking off things that were on the summer to-do list but never happened. We started off by going to the tigers game on September 9th. They got smoked by the royals. That doesn't really matter though because I think everyone that went really enjoyed themselves. The fireworks after the game were awesome. Kinda funny that I went to kensington on the 4th of july for fireworks, saw fireworks at fountain walk over the summer, but none of them were as good as the tigers game fireworks. On Sunday, Sept. 11th, we went to the beach at kensington. It was about 90 degrees out and not a cloud in the sky, so it was a perfect day for the beach. I ended up with a horrible sunburn, probably the worst one I've ever had.

Last weekend we went and saw the exorcism of Emily Rose. That wasn't really on the summer list, but I thought it was worth mentioning since it was a good movie. This Friday we will be driving up to Central to visit Jenn and participate in CMU and You day on Saturday, then coming home at like 1pm on Saturday so Sarah can get ready for homecoming on Saturday night. I'm kinda glad I dont have to go, but now I'll be stuck with nothing to do Saturday night.

October 1st will conclude the summer to-do list, I believe, when we go to cedar point for halloweekends. I havent been to cedar point in a few years, and certainly havent been on all the rides. That will change this time around as Sarah has said she is going to drag me on every good ride there. I'm really looking forward to that trip, should be a lot of fun.

I think I say this every time I make an update, but I really should write in here more consistantly. I still use it every day to read other peoples journals, but never take the time to write anything myself. Some things never change.

I shall be back again in a few months im sure.

edit: I'm surprised I forgot to add this part, but somehow it slipped my mind. On sunday I decided that I would buy some flowers for Sarah and drop them off on her doorstep a little before she got home from school. That way she would come home and have them sitting there for her. Then I had a brilliant idea of ordering some and having them delivered to her while she was at school. Great plan, but they could not gaurantee that the flowers would be delivered by a certain time. I didnt want them being delivered after she had already gotten out of school, so I decided to cancel on that. Then, finally, I decided to go buy the flowers myself, and then set them on her car at work Monday night and lure her outside somehow.

I ended up getting the flowers at like 5pm Monday, and she started work at 5. I wanted to give her some time to get settled and everything, so I delayed a while. I drove to PE and scoped out the situation, and saw her car was in a spot where she very well could have seen it from inside. After much debate and calling people to get their opinion on it, I just decided to go do it and if she sees me, oh well. I called her at work just to get her talking to hopefully distract her, I made the drop and then told her that I was pretty sure I left my wallet in her car the other night and asked if she could go check for me.

After the phone call I run away and hide behind the corner of Dicks and sat down waiting for a phone call back. After like 10 minutes and nothing, I go to check and see if the flowers are still there - which they are. So I call her back to find out whats up, and she says that her boss is there and she cant just leave to go outside and I'd have to wait a few minutes. More waiting. I called Chris and Jenn each a couple times to pass the time. Finally Jenn said she would call in and pretend to be Elaine's (Sarah's coworker) mom. She calls in and Sarah answered, totally bought it that Jenn was Elaine's mom, and then Jenn talked to Elaine about it I guess. I was talking to Chris on the phone at this point I believe, and next thing I know Sarah is at her car. From where I was, it was kinda hard to tell what her reaction was, she just kinda got the flowers off her car and then put them inside, and then walked back into work. I waited around for like another 10-15 minutes to see if she would call, but nothing.

I was a bit angry, I'll admit. I thought I just got hosed after putting all that effort into it and couldnt even get a phone call to say thanks. But then about 30-45 minutes after she got them, she called. She said her boss wouldn't leave so she had to continue talking and couldnt call me. Whatever. She said she was really happy, really surprised (totally bought it that i left my wallet in her car), loved the flowers, and that it made her day. There's the kind of reaction I was looking for.

Kristaaale: i never knew you had a romantic side
